Hi, I’m Jay, and welcome to Wine Lees!
Wine can feel complicated, with its long labels, unfamiliar grapes and rules about what goes with what. I created Wine Lees to make it simple: clear, friendly guides that help you choose a bottle with confidence and enjoy every glass.
Who is behind Wine Lees?
I grew up in Burgundy, France, where wine is part of everyday life and every family meal. I then studied Wine Business in Bordeaux and in the United States, before moving to the UK, where I’ve now lived for ten years.
I’ve worked in the wine industry for close to a decade, across wineries, importers, PR agencies and specialist wine shops. Along the way, I’ve tasted hundreds of wines, talked to winemakers and helped customers find the right bottle for every occasion.
I hold the WSET Level 3 Award in Wines, one of the world’s most famous wine qualifications. Wine Lees brings together everything I’ve learned: a French love of wine and food, and a curiosity for wines from all over the world.
What will you find on Wine Lees?
- Food and wine pairings: from a Sunday roast to Christmas dinner, the right wine for every dish
- Grape guides: what each grape tastes like, where it grows and what to eat with it
- Wine tips: how to serve, taste and store wine, and how to tell if a bottle has gone bad
- Winemaking explained: how red, white, rosé, sparkling and fortified wines are made
How are the articles written?
Every article is written by me, based on my experience and training. I recommend wines and accessories because I think they’re genuinely good, never because a brand has asked me to.
Some articles contain affiliate links, which help keep Wine Lees running at no extra cost to you. You can read more in our disclosure.
